Who Does She Look Like?

I get the comment all the time, Savannah sure looks like you. Or she looks just like Jocelyn, or Tyler. Funny thing is, I never thought Jocelyn looked anything like me really until lately. Just look at this comparison picture of Savannah and I and you tell me what you think... Related or not related?

A candy sweet weekend!

We are so blessed to have the grandkids living close by and even more blessed that we get to spend time with them. Tyler and Karie were out of town last week so I took advantage of the time and took the girls the SLC to the Sweet's Candy Factory. Sydnee, Savannah, Wayne and I had our own little tour. The girls were darling and both had a blast sampling free candy along the way. Sydnee learned some interesting facts like: it takes 7 days to make a jelly bean and they are still made by hand. There are 130 employees working 10 hour days 4 days a week at the factory. You actually can eat too much candy at one time ;-). The girls had their fill of taffy, tootsie rolls, cinnamon bears (chocolate covered of course). We had a sleepover on Friday and Saturday night and played with their new little baby cousin Emma on Sunday. Savannah quietly disappeared about the time I was ready to take her home on Sunday night. She had pulled the covers down on the guest bed - her favorite big princess bed, crawled in and fell asleep. Kind of scared me for just a minute. Hate to lose the kids if you know what I mean! Hard to explain to mom and dad when they get back.

Welcome to the World of Nursing

"Nursing is an art, and if it is to be made an art, it requires an exclusive devotion as hard a preparation as any sculpture's or painter's work; for what is the having to do with dead canvas or dead marble, compared with having to do with the living body, the temple of God's spirit?
It is one of the fine arts: I had almost said, the finest of fine arts~ Florence Nightingale

Jocelyn with Emma in tow was hit of the graduation ceremony. Instructors and students alike knew the dedication and sacrifice it took to finish those last 4 weeks.

And you can't do it without a supportive spouse and Brandon is a gem! He has been the best new dad a new mom could ask for. I'm pretty sure Jocelyn would second that!
It takes team work and this is Team Ayotte!

29 years ago I graduated with my LPN pregnant with my first child. Notice I am hiding in the back. In this crowd of nurses is one of Jocelyn's nursing instructors from OWATC and a former collegue of Wayne's from his BSN program. Kind of crazy to think I've been doing this for almost 30 years and to watch my daughter begin a new career. I hope she finds as much joy in it as I have. Nursing has been a great career for me and it has allowed me to work in a variety of different capacities. It has changed so much from when I first entered the field of nursing and yet the very core of nursing is caring and that will never change. Welcome to a great new career Jocelyn. We are so proud of you!

Ten Fingers and Ten Toes

Ten fingers, Ten toes,
She's laughter and teardrops,
So small and brand new
And amazingly angelic
She's sent to bless you
She's one special baby
The best of life's treasure
And will grant and bless you
Many hours of great pleasure.

A "Reel" Catch!

Wayne had a weekend away with some friends fishing up near Stanley Idaho. He had a blast and was ever so happy to show off his catch of the day! It was this big guy's lucky day and he is back in the water to see yet another day! Way to go Wayner!
Wayne had a blast with his friend Bryant catching this steel head. Fishing the Salmon River in April 2010.
Bryant Romney shows off his catch.

They had fun but they didn't bring me home any fish to eat :-(

Then Came April...

Life is about to speed up 10 fold. Jocelyn is not due for another 4 weeks. She has exactly 4 more weeks of nursing school left. She has just seen her OB doc who tells her everything looks good and there is no good reason why she won't make it to her due date. Of course it is unusual for moms to ask to make it to their due date. Ususally they are requesting to deliver early. Not this time. Jocelyn has Emma planned almost to the day. School ends on the 5th and Emma is due on the 6th and graduation is on the 7th. Tight squeeze but it can be done. Unless of course Little Emma Kate decides to exercise her independence 4 weeks early! Jocelyn misses just under a week of school. She graduates with the LPN on May 7th 2010 with little Emma Kate present to watch her momma. Going to show that children and life are never predictable, but enjoyable all the same! We are so happy to have her a part of our life even if she did arrive a bit early. So grateful the Lord sent her healthy. So blessed to have such a sweet spirit to bless our lives as grandparents.

Grandpa Wayne and Little Emma Kate
Aunt Karie and Uncle Tyler were quick to the hospital to meet their new neice.
Grandma Shel - I can hardly contain the excitement of being grandma again! Even more thrilled that although she arrived 4 weeks early, she is healthy and mom did beautifully!

This was actually taken 2 days before little Emma made her debut. Jocelyn is 35 4/7. Also in the pic are my darling little Sydnee K and Savannah banana. Easter day 2010.

"It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end."

Our friends Jeff and Debbie Hammer get their groove on!

Here are just a few snippets from our life over the past few months. In March we celebrated Wayne's 50th with a surprise birthday party with close family and friends. I'd like to think it was a success. It was great that everyone went the extra mile and caught the disco fever. Wayne enjoyed visiting with family and friends he hadn't seen in a very long time! Thanks everyone for making it all worth while.
